Dive into a dynamic learning adventure with Spring In Motion: Water, Forces, and Life! This science‑heavy unit blends science, history, social studies, language arts, and art to explore the natural world and human ingenuity. Students will investigate the water cycle, climate vs. weather, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and lightning, while discovering the life cycles of plants, bees, and butterflies, and exploring genetics and pollination.
The unit also connects science to history and culture: study Roman aqueducts, the Indus Valley, Kush and Axum civilizations, and West African environmental adaptations. Students will be introduced to geography skills using the six elements of geography and explore rainbows, the color wheel, and artistic interpretations of the sky and nature.
Language arts and art are woven throughout, with opportunities to practice reading comprehension, poetry writing, and using figurative language—like similes, metaphors, and personification—to describe storms, rainbows, and the wonders of the natural world. With hands-on experiments, research prompts, observation, and art projects, this unit encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning.
