ISSUE 01- Explorations and Discovery
Digestible Discoveries: Explorations & Discovery
This monthly homeschool magazine-style unit is our smallest instructional unit, designed as an introduction to key concepts across subjects. Perfect for Grades 5–9 (but enjoyable for younger or older students), it gives learners a chance to build foundational understanding while leaving room for extension and exploration. Additional suggested readings and enrichment activities are available in our Resource Section for continued learning.
Over four weeks of hands-on learning, students travel the globe, explore scientific breakthroughs, create art, and uncover modern marvels—all in activities that take 15–30 minutes per day and encourage curiosity, independent thinking, and problem-solving.
Weekly Breakdown:
Week 1: Voyages That Changed the World – Explore Marco Polo, Columbus, Zheng He, and Magellan using timelines, maps, and travel journal prompts.
Week 2: Scientific Discoveries That Changed the World – Learn about Isaac Newton, Marie Curie, Galileo, and imagine your own experiments using the scientific method.
Week 3: The Art of Discovery – Study Leonardo da Vinci, early cartographers, and engage in creative projects like sketching inventions, designing flags, and making collages.
